Surrounded by the sea, our vineyards stretch from the hills of Gassin to the beaches of Ramatuelle. The exceptional site of the Saint-Tropez Peninsula and the marked influence of the sea mean that the vines benefit not only from very mild temperatures all year round but also from the greatest amount of sunshine in France (2,800 to 3,000 hours per year), which affords the best ripening conditions for all our grape varieties. Annual rainfall on our coastline is between 700 and 800mm, in the form of infrequent and sudden downpours, in both Winter and Spring. These rains are sufficient to replenish water reserves in our soils, enabling the vines to withstand our hot dry Summers. The protection afforded by the surrounding mountains transforms the cold northerly wind, known as the mistral, into a gentle breeze on the Peninsula.

Bandol terroir has the advantage of enjoying a microclimate which favours the optimum ripening of its principal grape variety, Mourvèdre. The Mediterranean climate is characterised by humid, mild winters with infrequent but heavy rainfall and hot, dry Summers, but is tempered here by the influence of the sea whilst the surrounding landscape protects the vineyards from the effects of the northerly mistral wind.

Backed by its expertise and the latest equipment, the Moulin de La Roque cellar also preserves the methods that have forged the reputation that Bandol wine enjoys today.

It is through a constant endeavour to enhance the excellence of its wines that Moulin de la Roque was granted ISO 9001 version 2000 certification in 2004.

Chateau Les Valentines

Here we are in Provence... in “Londe-lès-Maures” to be exact, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the islands of Porquerolles and Port Cros, a few miles away from St Tropez. The Château Les Valentines covers a total of 35 hectares. The wine growing estate is classified AOC Côtes de Provence and is more than a century old. The previous owners used to bring their grape harvest to the local cooperative until we took over in 1997.

Wine production in Provence is dominated by rosés. The grape varieties used include those traditional to the area, namely: Cinsault for its lightness, elegance and fruity aromas, Grenache for its warm and inviting fineness, and Syrah for its typically aromatic red fruit. We use organic methods of agriculture, ploughing several times a year. The vines are 30 years old on average.
