Over the past 20 year Bruno Dubois has been leading the way for organic and biodynamic farming in the Saumur Champigny region which can be often overlooked for the purity it can produce.

Before taking over his family vineyards he had the fortune experience entering the winemaking sphere at Domaine Lapierre in Morgon with the legend, Marcel Lapierre himself. Here is where his passion for organics and non-interventionist practices began and where he credits his natural farming and winemaking philosophies.

In 2002 Bruno started his own Domaine and started the Organic conversion. He has been certified organic since 2004 and in 2015 certified Biodynamic. Across his nearly 13ha of vines, Bruno works to maintain the health of the soils and the intricate ecosystem alive on his estate. His vineyards are inter-planted with native brush and trees, while bird houses, bat shelters and bee hives are scattered around the estate.

His philosophy in the vineyard and surrounding ecosystem is to produce healthy, dynamic fruit that show a lot of energy. “When the fruit is healthy,” says Dubois, “then the work in the cellar becomes easier.” The goal in the cellar is to produce fresh, clean wines with as little human intervention as possible - no pumping and being as gentle as possible. He does not add anything except sulphites (when necessary) to allow the fruit to shine and foster the pure expression of the terroir it comes from.
