This domain originated in 1875 by the Cornu family, who settled in the town of Ladoix in 1870. The domaine originally sold its grapes to négociants, until Edmond Cornu took command of the estate in 1956 and began bottling his own wine in 1959.

At the age of 22, his son Pierre came onboard, and together this dynamic family expanded its vineyards. Pierre has always been interested by nature, plants, and gardening, and so carrying on the longstanding family tradition (the Cornu’s have been winegrowers since at least 1800) was a natural step. These days, Pierre is joined by his cousin, Emmanuel Boireau, who joined the family business in 2004, and the two manage the vineyard and cellar work together.

Based in the heart of the Côte d'Or in Ladoix-Serrigny, the estate now comprises 15 hectares of vineyards, which are spread throughout the villages of the northern tier of the Côte de Beaune, including Ladoix-Serrigny, Aloxe-Corton, Chorey-lès-Beaune, and Savigny-lès-Beaune, as well as a small parcel in Corgoloin in the Côte-de-Nuits.

The Cornu team are eager learners, impassioned to constantly seek new knowledge and improve the quality of their grapes and their practices. In the name of continual scrutiny and progress, Pierre takes part in blind tastings every week to refine his palate to identify different wines and vintages.

In the vineyard, all grapes are harvested by hand and de-stemmed prior to fermentation, which occurs in stainless steel tanks. Pigéage and remontage are part of the fermentation process for the red wines. These are then racked into small barrels and aged for 15–20 months, and are rarely fined and only occasionally filtered.
